Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 20, 2025

Look, we get it - nobody actually enjoys reading privacy policies. But we're architects, not lawyers, so we've tried to keep this straightforward and honest. Bottom line: we respect your information the same way we respect heritage buildings - with care and responsibility.

When you reach out to us or browse around, we might collect:

  • Contact stuff: Your name, email, phone number - the basics so we can actually talk to you about your project
  • Project details: Whatever you share about what you're looking to build or restore
  • Technical bits: IP address, browser type, how you found us - standard website analytics that help us improve things
  • Cookies: Yeah, we use 'em. Not the chocolate chip kind, but the ones that remember you visited before

We're not selling data or building advertising profiles. We're designing buildings, and we only collect what helps us do that better.

Pretty straightforward here:

  • To respond to your inquiries and discuss potential projects
  • To send you project updates, invoices, and relevant architectural documentation
  • To improve our website and services based on how people use them
  • To comply with legal requirements (Canadian privacy laws, building codes, that sort of thing)
  • Occasionally, to share our latest work or studio updates - but only if you're cool with that

We won't spam you with stuff you didn't ask for. Our inbox is already full enough - we figure yours probably is too.

Your information stays pretty locked down. We might share it with:

  • Project collaborators: Engineers, contractors, consultants - but only what's needed for your specific project
  • Service providers: Email hosting, cloud storage, website analytics - the tools we use to run the studio
  • Legal requirements: If we're legally required to disclose something (hasn't happened yet, knock on wood)

We're not selling your info to marketing companies or data brokers. That's just not how we operate.

You've got control over your information. Seriously.

  • Access: Wanna know what info we have on you? Just ask.
  • Correction: If something's wrong, we'll fix it
  • Deletion: Want us to delete your data? We can do that (except for stuff we legally need to keep for contracts and such)
  • Opt-out: Don't want marketing emails? There's an unsubscribe link, or just tell us
  • Cookies: You can disable 'em in your browser settings, though some parts of the site might not work as smoothly

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA), you've got rights. We take that seriously and we'll respect your choices without giving you grief about it.

We use industry-standard security measures:

  • SSL encryption for data transmission (that little padlock in your browser)
  • Secure servers hosted in Canada
  • Limited access - only team members who actually need your info can see it
  • Regular backups and security updates

That said, nothing's 100% secure online. We do our best, but if you're sharing really sensitive stuff, maybe give us a call instead.

We keep information as long as it's useful or required:

  • Active projects: Throughout the project and for 7 years after completion (legal requirement for architectural records in Ontario)
  • Inquiries that didn't go anywhere: About 2 years, then we clear it out
  • Marketing contacts: Until you ask us to stop or we realize you're not interested anymore
  • Website analytics: Usually 26 months, then it gets anonymized

Basically, we're not digital hoarders. If we don't need it anymore, we get rid of it.

Our website might link to other sites - project suppliers, industry associations, maybe some cool heritage resources. Once you click through to another site, their privacy policy takes over, not ours.

We try to only link to reputable organizations, but we can't control what they do with your data. Use your judgment.

Laws change, technology evolves, and sometimes we need to update this policy. When we make significant changes, we'll post the updated version here and change the date at the top.

For major changes, we'll try to let active clients know directly. But it's worth checking back here occasionally if you're curious.

If you've got questions about how we handle your information, or if you want to exercise any of your rights, just reach out:

Email: studio@shadowspirecrown.info

Phone: (416) 555-0847

Mail: 425 King Street West, Suite 1200, Toronto, ON M5V 1K4

We'll get back to you within a few business days. And if you're not satisfied with how we handle your privacy concerns, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

That's it - thanks for reading

We know this was probably about as exciting as watching concrete cure, but we appreciate you taking the time. If anything's unclear or if you've got concerns, seriously just reach out. We're here to build trust along with buildings.
